Dr M back in hospital

Former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad is back in hospital, some three weeks after he was admitted to the National Heart Institute (IJN) for a full medical check-up.

IJN said in a statement that Mahathir was admitted for an elective medical procedure.

“Due to the current SOPs, no visitors are allowed to visit,” it added.

Mahathir was last admitted to IJN on Dec 16. He remained there for a week, undergoing a series of medical investigations before he was discharged on Dec 23.

He was previously admitted in 2016 and 2013 for the treatment of chest infections.
