Bersatu leader Dr Afif Bahardin yesterday said that his former ally Amirudin Shari who now holds the post of Selangor menteri besar has doubts and does not fully trust Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.

He said he had known Amirudin for a long time, since they were both in PKR and competing in the youth wing.

He said they had also joined hands to run for the posts of youth and deputy youth chief, although Amirudin lost to Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad, who is currently a PKR vice-president.

"He doesn't trust Anwar so much, he is like us," Afif said.

"He doesn't trust Anwar – ask Saifuddin (Abdullah)," he added in a speech in Shah Alam last night.

Afif was sacked from PKR and joined Bersatu in 2020 after the Sheraton Move which saw the collapse of the Pakatan Harapan (PH) government.

He also resigned as a Penang health exco.

He claimed that Amirudin was also worried even though he had been announced by Anwar as PH's candidate for menteri besar if the coalition's alliance with Barisan Nasional wins the upcoming polls.

"Anwar also said before the election that he would not work with Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

"What now? Zahid has become a hero," he said.
