Perikatan Nasional's (PN) candidate in Tambun, Ahmad Faizal Azumu, today questioned his opponent Anwar Ibrahim for apparently avoiding any criticism of Ahmad Zahid Hamidi despite campaigning in the Umno president's seat of Bagan Datuk earlier this week.

He said it made no sense for a candidate to hold back from making any comments about his or her opponent while on the campaign trail.

"He went there without reprimanding the Bagan Datuk candidate at all. There's no logic to it," Faizal said at a ceramah in Bandar Sunway Tambun tonight.

Anwar, the Pakatan Harapan chairman, had had hard words for most of his political opponents that night including PN chairman Muhyiddin Yassin, Pejuang chairman Dr Mahathir Mohamad, and PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang.

However, he made no mention of the corruption charges against Zahid, only playing down talk of a secret pact between him and the Barisan Nasional chairman.

Faizal also mentioned the matter at the ceramah, saying such a scenario could happen.

"They are in cahoots," he said. "This is why Umno is so happy to send out its candidates even though they know that they cannot win."
