DAP’s MP in Klang, among the areas which bore the brunt of the heavy floods which ravaged Selangor along with several other states, is not happy that Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob did not inform him of a visit to check on flood victims in his constituency.

Charles Santiago said Ismail’s office should have allowed him to accompany the prime minister, adding that failure to do so showed he is not “interested… about what’s actually happening on the ground”.

“Walking into evacuation shelters and having brief conversations with flood victims may be comforting to the people but it isn’t enough,” Santiago said.

Santiago said not including him in the prime ministerial visit was against the “Keluarga Malaysia” concept, the tagline used by Ismail to reach out to political foes since coming to power in August.

“Without collaborating with my office, Adun (assemblymen) and Ahli Majlis MPK (council members) goes against the spirit of Keluarga Malaysia, which the PM preaches and is totally unbecoming of a man who holds the top job in the country.”
