DAP’s Bangi MP Ong Kian Ming today urged all representatives to work together to resolve the Covid-19 situation in the country.

He said this was not the time to criticise one another but to focus on the main issue to eradicate the pandemic.

“I appeal to all MPs, at this critical moment in our country, what we need now is to implement a spirit of bipartisanship, a spirit of cooperation between both sides,” he said at the Dewan Rakyat today.

Ong, who was deputy international trade and industry minister under the previous Pakatan Harapan government, said while the majority held by Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin could be disputed, no one in the Dewan Rakyat presently had enough support.

“I think it would be easy to criticise the government and ministers if we wanted to. There are many issues we could criticise.

“But I plead with everyone, we need to have a plan and a direction,” he said.

“No one here has the majority. Why don’t we, as frontliners, work hand in hand to defeat Covid-19 and restore the economy so that we can show that we have a direction, by working together?”
