PH announces 14 names for Kedah, Langkawi candidate 'to be decided later'

Kedah Pakatan Harapan chairman Mahfuz Omar says the candidate for Langkawi will be announced before nomination day.

Pakatan Harapan (PH) yesterday announced its list of candidates for 14 parliamentary seats in Kedah in the 15th general election (GE15) on Nov 19.

Kedah PH information chief Ismail Salleh, who made the announcement in Sungai Petani last night, also announced the nine PKR candidates who were named the day before.

The five seats announced last night will be contested by candidates from Amanah (four) and DAP (one).

They are Muaz Abdullah (Padang Terap), Mahfuz Omar (Pokok Sena), Latipah Mohamad Yatim (Sik), Johari Abdullah (Baling) and DAP candidate Zulhazmi Shariff (Jerai).

However, the coalition did not announce the name of the candidate for the Langkawi seat.

Kedah PH chairman Mahfuz Omar, when met by reporters after the event, said the PH candidate for Langkawi would be decided later, and declined comment on why it was not announced with the rest.

"We will inform you later, before the nominations,” he said.

The following is the list of PH candidates for 14 parliamentary seats in Kedah:

10. Latipah Mohamad Yatim - Sik
11. Mohammed Taufiq Johari - Sungai Petani
12. Johari Abdullah - Baling
13. M Karupaiya - Padang Serai
14. Saifuddin Nasution Ismail - Kulim Bandar Baharu
