Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin says only those who have been fully vaccinated are allowed to travel.

The health ministry says 17 out of 122 individuals infected with the Omicron variant as of Jan 4 were found to have no record of Covid-19 vaccination.

Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said the ministry is investigating the records of travellers from abroad who have no vaccination history due to health problems or other reasons.

He said 10 of them involved Malaysians while seven others were foreigners.

“The Omicron import cases without vaccination records were from the UK (four cases), Nigeria (four), the United Arab Emirates (four) and one each from the US, Australia, Ghana, Ireland as well as Saudi Arabia,” he said at a press conference today.

He said initial investigations found 122 positive for Omicron after entering Malaysia with 14% or 17 cases without vaccination.

“Here, there is non-compliance with SOPs as only those who have been vaccinated are allowed to travel,” he said.
