Bersatu deputy president Faizal Azumu has been appointed as special adviser to the prime minister with ministerial status, the Prime Minister’s Office announced today.

In a statement, it said Faizal, the Tambun MP, would be responsible for advising Muhyiddin Yassin in community network affairs, communities and socio-economic development.

“This office congratulates him on this appointment,” it said.

Faizal, the former Perak menteri besar, resigned from his position on Dec 5 after failing to obtain the majority support of state assemblymen in a vote of confidence.

He was replaced by Kota Tampan assemblyman and Perak Umno chairman Saarani Mohamad.
