Federal Territories Minister Annuar Musa has been fined RM2,000 for violating Covid-19 SOPs by visiting former prime minister Abdullah Badawi at his home on Saturday.

Annuar had taken to social media with a tweet about the visit, saying he and his wife had visited Abdullah at his home in Kuala Lumpur.

“We spent more than two hours together and ate lunch cooked by Tun Jeane,” he said, referring to Abdullah’s wife Jeanne Abdullah.

“May Allah SWT always bless Pak Lah and his whole family.”

The post, which sparked a strong backlash, was later deleted.

Dang Wangi OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Zainal Abdullah told The Star that Annuar had violated SOPs by visiting Abdullah.

“I confirm that he (Annuar) has been issued with a RM2,000 compound notice,” Zainal was quoted as saying.

Annuar’s office meanwhile confirmed receipt of the compound notice.

“He has received the compound from the police and will settle it as soon as possible,” it said in a statement.
