Xavier’s pol-sec in MACC custody as graft probe continues

The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has arrested the political secretary of former minister Xavier Jayakumar, MalaysiaNow has learnt.

Sources familiar with an ongoing investigation into dealings linked to the water, land and natural resources ministry which Xavier once headed said Fazly Razally had been remanded over a corruption probe linked to sand-mining contracts.

This comes more than a week after MACC released MA Tinagaran, whom Xavier described as a close family friend.

Tinagaran was arrested alongside two company directors in an anti-graft operation where some RM1.2 million in cash and a luxury car were said to have been confiscated.

MACC also froze individual and company bank accounts worth some RM77 million.

Earlier, MACC chief Azam Baki said the agency is also investigating Xavier.
