Indonesia sees single-day high with over 4,000 new virus cases

112 more deaths have been recorded over the past 24 hours, bringing Indonesia's toll to 9,448.

Indonesia has reported 4,168 new Covid-19 cases in 24 hours, its highest since the pandemic virus was detected in the republic on March 2.

Based on the data published in the official Indonesian government website for Covid-19 today, the overall total number of positive cases rose to 240,687 while 107,863 more patients are still being monitored for the virus.

In the past 24 hours since 12 noon yesterday, 112 more deaths were recorded, bringing the toll for the disease to 9,448 people.

Jakarta province, which came under a two-week large-scale social restriction on Monday, still has the most overall infections in the country with 60,828 cases, an addition of 988 cases.

In terms of fatalities, East Java has the highest with 2,942 people followed by Jakarta (1,527), Central Java (1,243), South Kalimantan (396), North Sumatra (394), South Sulawesi (389). The remaining cases are in other provinces in Indonesia.
