Top cop Razarudin Husain today said that the investigation into DAP chairman Lim Guan Eng was different from the probe against Kedah Menteri Besar Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor as the former did not involve the royal institution.

He said neither the investigation into Lim nor the probe against PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang involved sensitivities on the matter.

“He didn’t touch on the royal institution at all. It’s different,” he said at a press conference in Kuala Lumpur.

Earlier this month, China Press had quoted Lim as saying that the "green wave",  a phrase used by DAP leaders to describe Perikatan Nasional's electoral gains last year, would mean the end of non-Muslim religious rights.

A number of police reports were lodged against Lim, with Bukit Aman saying on July 9 that an investigation had been opened under Section 4(1) of the Sedition Act 1948, Section 505b of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communication and Multimedia Act 1998.

Razarudin said that both investigation papers were about 70% complete and had been submitted to the Attorney-General’s Chambers yesterday.

Nevertheless, he said, there were still outstanding matters related to data preservation and forensics.

Razarudin said this after defending the move to arrest Sanusi in the early hours of the morning, ahead of his court appearance today.

He said the police had done so after failing to reach Sanusi by phone.

“Because we could not reach him to tell him about his court appearance today, we tried to track him down, and we found him at 2.30am in the Mont Kiara area,” he said.
