Umno today expressed support for Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim following his recent warning of the full force of the law against those accused of inciting racial sentiments.

In a statement announcing the party's new office bearers, which saw the appointment of former Umno Youth chief Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki as secretary-general, the Umno Supreme Council said the party was concerned about the "continuing spread of racial and religious sentiments".

"Thus, we call on the government to take firm action to curb any phenomena that could damage harmony in the country," it said.
