PN unveils shadow Cabinet

It is led by PN chairman Muhyiddin Yassin, assisted by PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang and opposition leader Hamzah Zainudin.

Perikatan Nasional (PN) today revealed its shadow Cabinet for the keeping of checks and balances as part of efforts to play the role of an effective opposition. 

The PN Portfolio Committee is headed by the coalition's chairman Muhyiddin Yassin, assisted by PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang as his deputy and Hamzah Zainudin as opposition leader. 

Muhyiddin said the committee would highlight the MPs who are skilled and experienced in various fields to comment on the issues that arise. 

He said the PN secretariat would be responsible for issuing statements on policies and other issues concerning the economy, environment, international relations, defence, and national security. 

"We will present all of these issues so that the people know that we are ready for the responsibility if we are given the mandate to administer the country," he said at a press confernece in Kuala Lumpur. 

In the committee, Putrajaya MP Radzi Jidin holds the finance and economy portfolio, Kota Bharu MP Takiyuddin Hassan is responsible for home affairs, while Indera Mahkota MP Saifuddin Abdullah is in charge of education.

Tanah Merah MP Ikmal Hisham Abdul Aziz holds the defence portfolio and Kuala Langat MP Dr Ahmad Yunus Hairi, health. 

Muhyiddin said PN would continue championing the Shared Prosperity Vision put forth during its time in government.

"We will maintain what was decided before this," he said. 

"It was presented by the government when we tabled the 12th Malaysia Plan."
