Those in high-risk groups have been advised to receive a booster dose of Covid-19 vaccine following developments in China.

The health ministry recommends that frontliners and members of the public, especial high-risk groups, get a booster dose of Covid-19 vaccine following the latest developments on the pandemic in China.

Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said in a Facebook post that while Covid-19 cases in the country are currently under control and decreasing, precautions must be taken.

On Tuesday, Noor Hisham said the ministry was preparing for the possibility of an increase in cases and deaths due to Covid-19 following the drastic rise in cases in China.

Measures to be taken include increasing the percentage of people eligible for booster doses, to reduce the spread of infection and deaths.
