Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairman Muhyiddin Yassin will be seeking clarification from PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang on claims that the party is reviving the Muafakat Nasional (MN) pact with Umno.

Muhyiddin, who is also Bersatu president, said he wanted PAS to explain what had been agreed on with Umno at their recent meeting.

"I'm also interested to know what actually happened. I want to get clarification when I meet Hadi this Monday or Tuesday.

"We are going to discuss many issues of great importance and, of course, get clarification on whether there was any such discussion and what the outcome was: is Umno agreeable to that arrangement, (and) what is the position of PN," he told reporters in Putrajaya today.

Earlier, the media reported that Hadi and Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi had met on Tuesday and discussed the issue of MN, to avoid clashes at the general election to come.

PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan was also reported as saying that there had been informal talks between the party and certain Umno leaders on cooperation ahead of GE15.

During the 68th PAS muktamar, a motion was also passed to continue cooperation with Umno through the MN platform for GE15.

MN is a political alliance between Umno and PAS, formed in 2019 after their defeat in the 14th general election.
