New infections drop to 1,700 as 2 more deaths logged

Another 1,709 Covid-19 cases were recorded yesterday, taking total confirmed infections in the country to 4,524,727.

There were 1,746 recoveries, taking total recoveries to 4,466,304.

There are now 22,712 active cases, of which 21,707 or 95.6% are undergoing home quarantine.

Meanwhile, 25 (0.1%) are at quarantine centres while 956 (4.2%) have been hospitalised.

A total of 24 are in ICU with 14 in need of respiratory assistance. ICU utilisation throughout the country stands at 59.0%, with Covid ICU utilisation at 5.3%.

Another two deaths were reported, taking total deaths to 35,711.
