Daily caseload inches over 12,000 as 33 more deaths reported

There are now 171,172 active cases throughout the country.

Another 12,017 Covid-19 cases were recorded yesterday, taking total confirmed infections in the country to 4,268,486.

Of the total number of cases recorded, 68 were in Category Three and above.

There were 20,431 recoveries, taking total recoveries to 4,062,154.

A total of 558 cases were admitted to hospital, with 221 (39.6%) in Category Three and above and 337 (60.4%) in Category One and Two.

Of the 68 cases in Category Three and above reported yesterday:

* 15 (22.06%) were not vaccinated or had not completed their vaccination;
* 29 (42.65%) had received two doses of vaccine;
* 24 (35.29%) had received a booster jab;
* 38 (55.88%) were aged 60 and above; and
* 40 (58.82%) had comorbidities.

There are now 171,172 active cases, of which 167,130 or 97.6% are undergoing home quarantine.

Meanwhile, 385 (0.2%) are at quarantine centres while 3,423 (2.0%) have been hospitalised.

A total of 234 are in ICU with 131 in need of respiratory assistance. ICU utilisation throughout the country stands at 55.9%, with Covid ICU utilisation at 26.7%.

Another 33 deaths were reported, including 10 who were brought in dead. Total deaths now stand at 35,160.

The country’s infectivity rate as of April 5 was 0.86.
