39 deaths reported as new cases dip to 26,700

There are now 217,782 active cases, of which 204,876 or 94.1% are undergoing home quarantine.

Another 26,701 Covid-19 cases were recorded yesterday, taking total confirmed infections in the country to 3,138,215.

Of the total number of cases recorded yesterday, 118 (0.44%) were in Category Three and above. The remaining 26,583 (99.56%) were in Category One and Two.

There were 11,744 recoveries, taking total recoveries to 2,888,194.

A total of 1,469 cases were admitted to hospital yesterday, with 522 (35.5%) in Category Three and above and 947 (64.5%) in Category One and Two.

Of the 118 cases in Category Three and above reported yesterday:

* 22 (18.6%) were not vaccinated or had not completed their vaccination;
* 71 (60.2%) had received two doses of vaccine;
* 25 (21.2%) had received a booster jab;
* 53 (44.9%) were aged 60 and above;
* 49 (41.5%) had comorbidities;
* 4 (3.4%) were pregnant women; and
* 10 (8.5%) had died, including 2 (1.7%) who were brought in dead.

There are now 217,782 active cases, of which 204,876 or 94.1% are undergoing home quarantine.

Another 5,571 (2.6%) are at quarantine centres while 7,119 (3.3%) have been hospitalised.

A total of 216 are in ICU with 141 in need of respiratory assistance. ICU utilisation throughout the country stands at 54%.

Another 39 deaths were reported, including 17 who were brought in dead. Sixteen deaths were reported in Selangor, 14 in Sabah, two each in Kelantan, Pahang and Perak and one each in Kuala Lumpur, Melaka and Kedah.

Total deaths now stand at 32,239.

According to health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, the country’s infectivity rate as of Feb 17 was 1.27.
