Over 300,000 senior citizens infected with Covid-19, says health DG

A total of 16,646 or 61.3% of 32,034 deaths due to Covid-19 in the country were senior citizens.

A total of 336,848 or 11.5% of senior citizens in the country had tested positive for Covid-19 as of Feb 7 this year, says health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

In a Facebook post today, he said 16,646 or 61.3% of 32,034 deaths due to Covid-19 in the country were also senior citizens.

“In terms of vaccination, 2,258,521 or 67.7% of senior citizens have received a booster dose, while 3,335,309 or 96% of the population are fully vaccinated.

“Protect the senior citizens from Covid-19, let’s complete our vaccination and get our booster dose,” he said.
