Mahathir discharged from hospital after elective procedure

Former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad was discharged from the National Heart Institute (IJN) today, a week after being admitted for an elective procedure.

IJN said in a statement that Mahathir had successfully undergone the procedure and was discharged at 3.45pm.

“He will continue his recuperation and recovery process at home,” it said.

Mahathir was admitted to IJN for the procedure on Jan 7, some three weeks after another admission for a full medical check-up.

He was also admitted in 2013 and 2016 for the treatment of chest infections.
