School reopening delayed a week due to floods

States in Group A will begin the next schooling session on Jan 9 while states in Group B will start on Jan 10.

The third term of the 2021/2022 school session has been postponed for a week due to the floods that hit several states earlier this week.

Education Minister Radzi Jidin said schools in Group A (Johor, Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu) will begin classes on Jan 9.

Meanwhile schools in Group B (Melaka, Negeri Sembilan, Pahang, Perak, Perlis, Penang, Sabah, Sarawak, Selangor, Labuan and Putrajaya) will start classes on Jan 10.

The third term was supposed to begin on Jan 2 for schools in Group A and Jan 3 for schools in Group B.

The floods which hit a number of states including Selangor and Pahang saw tens of thousands evacuated to relief centres.

A total of 41 people have died so far, with eight individuals still missing.
