18 reported deaths take Covid toll to 31,044

Perak had the most at seven, followed by Selangor.

Another 18 Covid-related deaths were reported on Dec 17, taking the cumulative death toll in the country to 31,044.

According to the health ministry’s Github data repository, one or 5.6% of these was a brought-in-dead (BID) case.

Perak had the highest number of reported deaths at seven or 38.9% followed by Selangor at three or 16.7%.

Kelantan, Negeri Sembilan and Sabah reported two deaths each while Johor and Perlis reported one death each.

No deaths were reported in nine states – Kedah, Melaka, Pahang, Penang, Sarawak, Terengganu, Kuala Lumpur, Labuan and Putrajaya.

A total of 4,362 new cases were reported yesterday, taking the overall total to 2,711,764.

As of yesterday, there were 55,475 active Covid-19 cases reported and 5,098 recoveries.
