37 reported deaths take Covid toll to 31,026

Another 37 Covid-related deaths were reported on Dec 16, taking the cumulative death toll in the country to 31,026.

According to the health ministry’s Github data repository, four or 10.8% of these were brought-in-dead (BID) cases.

Penang had the highest number of reported deaths at six or 16.2%.

Johor, Kedah, Perak and Terengganu reported four deaths each while Negeri Sembilan, Pahang and Selangor reported three deaths each.

Sabah and Kuala Lumpur reported two deaths each while Kelantan and Melaka reported one death each.

No deaths were reported in Perlis, Sarawak, Labuan and Putrajaya.

A total of 4,262 new cases were reported yesterday, taking the overall total to 2,707,402.

As of yesterday, there were 56,229 active Covid-19 cases reported and 4,985 recoveries.
