Daily cases cross 20,000 again as death toll tops 17,000

Just over 4,000 cases in Selangor, nearly 3,000 in Sarawak.

Another 20,988 Covid-19 cases were recorded today, taking total confirmed infections in the country to 1,786,004.

Selangor recorded 4,073 cases, Sarawak 2,992, Kedah 2,455, Sabah 2,329, Johor 2,145, Penang 1,600 and Kelantan 1,247.

Perak recorded 990 cases, Terengganu 987, Kuala Lumpur 731, Pahang 599, Melaka 407 and Negeri Sembilan 301.

Perlis recorded 90 cases, Putrajaya 37 and Labuan five.

Active cases stand at 262,540 with 1,001 in the ICU and 470 in need of respiratory assistance.

Another 23,473 patients recovered, bringing total recoveries to 1,506,273.

However, 249 more deaths were reported, pushing the virus toll to 17,191.
