Daily cases top 23,500 in new high

Another 23,564 Covid-19 cases were recorded today, taking total confirmed infections in the country to 1,513,024.

Selangor recorded 6,974 cases, Sabah 2,738, Sarawak 2,548, Kedah 1,932, Kuala Lumpur 1,652, Penang 1,523, Johor 1,323, Kelantan 1,281 and Perak 1,248.

Melaka recorded 610 cases, Negeri Sembilan 608, Terengganu 521 and Pahang 517.

Perlis recorded 64 cases, Putrajaya 24 and Labuan one.

Active cases stand at 257,417 with 1,062 in the ICU and 518 in need of respiratory assistance.

Another 21,448 patients recovered, bringing total recoveries to 1,241,894.

However, 233 more deaths were reported, pushing the virus toll to 13,713.
