The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) today said it remains unable to identify the person behind a WhatsApp message purportedly offering bribes to DAP MPs to cross over.

The anti-graft agency said it had already met the three DAP MPs for more details on the claim.

“However, MACC assures that it will continue to investigate and hopes the public will not speculate on this issue,” it said in a statement.

DAP MPs Khoo Poay Tiong (Kota Melaka), M Kulasegaran (Ipoh Barat) and Kelvin Yii (Kuching) said they had received a WhatsApp message with offers of ministerial posts and gifts should they defect to the government’s side ahead of a confidence vote on Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin next month.

They showed screen grabs of a message from the number +6011-6989-4798, which among others offered them cash and “durians” in exchange for their support.
