New cases jump past 17,400 to highest level yet

More than 7,000 cases recorded in Selangor, over 2,800 in Kuala Lumpur.

Another 17,405 Covid-19 cases were recorded today, taking total confirmed infections in the country to 1,061,476.

Selangor recorded 7,171 cases, Kuala Lumpur 2,880, Kedah 1,112, Sabah 913, Negeri Sembilan 863, Johor 767, Penang 760, Kelantan 532, Melaka 531, Terengganu 490, Sarawak 464, Pahang 429 and Perak 406.

Putrajaya recorded 68 cases, Labuan 16 and Perlis three.

Active cases stand at 175,113 with 1,016 in the ICU and 529 in need of respiratory assistance.

Another 12,373 patients were discharged, bringing total recoveries to 877,812.

However, 143 more deaths were reported, pushing the virus toll to 8,551.
