New cases drop below 5,000 as total infections cross 700,000

Another 4,611 Covid-19 cases were recorded today, taking total confirmed infections in the country to 701,019.

Selangor recorded 1,346 cases, Sarawak 682, Perak 453, Negeri Sembilan 437, Johor 314, Kuala Lumpur 310, Kelantan 219, Melaka 205, Kedah 182, Sabah 166 and Labuan 130.

Penang recorded 84 cases, Pahang 50, Terengganu 18 and Putrajaya 15.

Active cases stand at 62,918 with 880 in the ICU and 452 in need of respiratory assistance.

Another 5,439 patients were discharged, bringing total recoveries to 633,624.

However, 69 more deaths were reported, pushing the virus toll to 4,477.
