Police are investigating allegations that Kedah Menteri Besar Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor flouted SOPs under the movement control order (MCO) 3.0 by test driving a car at a vehicle sales and exhibition centre at Autocity Juru in Bukit Mertajam yesterday.

Seberang Perai Tengah police chief ACP Shafee Abd Samad said the investigation is being conducted in accordance with Section 269 of the Penal Code and Regulation 17 (1) of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures in Local Infectious Areas) Regulations 2021.

“The police will call everyone involved, including the menteri besar,” he said when contacted by Bernama today.

Pictures and videos of an individual believed to be Sanusi test driving a car had gone viral on social media.

Under the SOPs for the total lockdown enforced to curb the spread of Covid-19, vehicle sales and exhibition centres are not allowed to operate.

MCO 3.0 will remain in force until June 14.
