Death toll hits 1,700 as 3,807 new cases logged

Another 3,807 Covid-19 cases were recorded today, taking total confirmed infections in the country to 444,484.

Selangor recorded 1,149 new cases followed by Sarawak (649), Kelantan (329), Kuala Lumpur (320), Johor (257), Penang (245), Kedah (224), Negeri Sembilan (144) and Perak (119).

Sabah recorded 96 cases, Terengganu 93, Melaka 88, Pahang 77, Putrajaya 11, and Labuan and Perlis three each.

Active cases stand at 37,396 with 434 in the ICU and 224 in need of respiratory assistance.

Nineteen new clusters were detected:

1. Balakong Jaya Tiga (Hulu Langat in Selangor; 15 screened, 10 positive)
2. Jalan Raja Musa (Kuala Selangor in Selangor; 138 screened, six positive)
3. Jalan Maharani (Muar and Tangkak in Johor; 147 screened, 33 positive)
4. Bukit Minyak Lapan (Seberang Perai Utara, Tengah and Selatan in Penang; 189 screened, 37 positive)
5. Dah Empat Kota (Kota Setar, Kuala Muda, Pendang and Yan in Kedah; 45 screened, 10 positive)
6. Kompleks Empat (Kota Kinabalu, Kota Belud, Papar, Penampang, Putatan, Ranau, Sandakan and Tuaran in Sabah; 97 screened, 26 positive)
7. Gudang Genting (Bentong in Pahang; 917 screened, 14 positive)
8. Desa Kemuning (Klang in Selangor; 35 screened, 10 positive)
9. Jalan Haji Alias (Klang in Selangor; 30 screened, 13 positive)
10. Pekan Pasir Mas (Pasir Mas and Machang in Kelantan; 161 screened, 51 positive)
11. Jalan Kesyukuran (Kota Tinggi in Johor; 42 screened, 14 positive)

There are currently 448 active clusters across the country.

Another 3,454 patients were discharged, bringing total recoveries to 405,388.

However, 17 more deaths were reported, pushing the virus toll to 1,700.
