Acryl Sani to take over as top cop

He will replace Abdul Hamid Bador effective May 4.

Deputy Inspector-General of Police Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani will take over as top cop effective May 4, Home Minister Hamzah Zainudin announced today.

Acryl will replace Abdul Hamid Bador who was assigned to the post from May 9, 2019 to May 3, 2021.

Hamzah said the appointment had received the consent of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong following advice from Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin on the recommendation of the Police Force Commission.

“Everyone has agreed that Acryl will be made the new insepctor-general of police, including Hamid,” he said at a press conference after handing over the letter of appointment to Acryl Sani in Putrajaya today.

Acryl will hold the position until Oct 3 this year when his tenure with the police force ends.

He previously held the positions of Sarawak police commissioner, Perak police chief, director of the crime prevention and community safety department, director of the commercial crime investigation department and director of the strategic resources and technology department.
