The top leaders of Bersatu today thanked its partners in Perikatan Nasional (PN) for remaining in the coalition despite Umno’s decision not to cooperate with the ruling bloc at the next general election.

“Bersatu takes the stand that the PN government led by Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin is still intact and will perform its duty to serve the people,” Bersatu secretary-general Hamzah Zainudin said in a statement following a meeting by the party’s leaders tonight.

The statement said it viewed Umno’s decision to dump Bersatu at the next polls as serious, adding that it will have grave implications.

But it said the PN government would continue its focus on battling the Covid-19 pandemic and restoring the economy, adding that political stability was crucial to ensuring the success of government programmes.

“As such, Bersatu would like to thank all political parties for their loyalty and steadfastness in supporting and defending the aspirations of the PN government,” the statement added.
