The three opposition representatives in the Independent Special Committee to advise the Agong during the virus emergency today said they would keep pressing for Parliament to convene.

They said Dewan Rakyat sittings are critical to ensuring checks and balance as well as allowing MPs to debate the measures taken to contain Covid-19.

“As such, we will consistently convey this view in meetings by the Independent Special Committee and hope it will be accepted by committee members as a collective stand to advise the Yang di-Pertuan Agong,” said a joint statement by PKR’s Saifuddin Nasution, Amanah’s Dzulkefly Ahmad and DAP’s Loke Siew Fook.

The three are among 19 members of the bipartisan committee tasked with advising the Agong on measures to contain the Covid-19 pandemic throughout the virus emergency.
