New cases top 3,000 again

3,297 new cases, 4,456 recoveries.

Another 3,297 Covid-19 cases were recorded today, taking total confirmed infections in the country to 283,569.

Perak recorded 1,215 cases, of which 1,046 were from the Jalan Changkat Jong workplace cluster.

This was followed by Selangor (868), Johor (431), Sarawak (185), Penang (127), Kuala Lumpur (123) and Negeri Sembilan (122).

Sabah recorded 85 cases, Melaka 65, Kelantan 30, Kedah 15, Terengganu 12, Pahang nine, Putrajaya seven and Labuan three.

Active cases stand at 33,304 with 209 in the ICU and 91 in need of respiratory assistance.

Six new clusters were detected:

1. Jalan Kota Kulai (Kulai in Johor; 89 screened, 31 positive)
2. Jalan Cemerlang Besi (Johor Bahru in Johor; 83 screened, 31 positive)
3. Jalan Kelapa Mawar (Batu Pahat in Johor; 91 screened, 16 positive)
4. Jalan Pandan Ria (Johor Bahru in Johor; 43 screened, 13 positive)
5. Jalan Persiaran Cemerlang (131 screened, 12 positive)
6. Perusahaan Baru (Seberang Perai Tengah in Penang; 213 screened, 24 positive)

Six more ended, leaving 510 active clusters across the country.

Another 4,456 patients were discharged, bringing total recoveries to 249,209.

However, five more deaths were reported, pushing the virus toll to 1,056.
