Padang Rengas MP Nazri Aziz has tested positive for Covid-19, becoming the latest politician to contract the deadly virus.

He is currently warded at Hospital Raja Perempuan Zainab in Kota Bharu.

This comes a week after he held a press conference at the Umno headquarters to declare that he was no longer supporting Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin.

Speaking to MalaysiaNow, Nazri said he had experienced coughing symptoms, and that he believed he contracted the virus from Umno blogger Zaharin Mohd Yasin.

Zaharin, who attended Nazri’s press conference, had later posted on Facebook that he was positive for the virus.

Nazri joins a list of several prominent politicians who have contracted Covid-19 this month, including Umno veteran Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah, Home Minister Hamzah Zainuddin, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Mustapa Mohamad, Women, Family and Community Development Minister Rina Harun and Deputy Communications and Multimedia Minister Zahidi Zainul Abidin.
