Death toll passes 500 mark

1,741 new cases, 1,010 recoveries.

Another 1,741 Covid-19 cases were recorded today, taking total confirmed infections in the country to 120,818.

Selangor recorded 687 cases, of which 541 were from clusters and close contact screening.

This was followed by Sabah (303), Johor (295) and Kuala Lumpur (150).

Negeri Sembilan meanwhile recorded 56 cases, followed by Penang (55), Kelantan (50), Kedah (45), Perak and Melaka (34 each), Pahang (12), Sarawak (eight), Putrajaya (six), Terengganu (four), and Labuan and Perlis (one each).

Active cases stand at 22,089 with 122 in the ICU and 53 in need of respiratory assistance.

Another five clusters were detected: Jalan Duyong (Klang in Selangor; 110 cases), Pasar Jalan Sentosa (Kuala Langat in Selangor; 61 cases), Jalan Nakhoda (Titiwangsa and Cheras in Kuala Lumpur; 14 cases), Ehsan Ibol (Hulu Perak, Larut, Matang and Selama in Perak and Gombak in Selangor; 22 cases) and Telok Mas (Melaka Tengah in Melaka; 13 cases).

Another six ended, leaving 231 active clusters throughout the country.

Another 1,010 patients were discharged, bringing total recoveries to 98,228.

However, seven more deaths were reported, pushing the virus toll to 501.
