1,600 new cases, most in Negeri Sembilan

Two more deaths take virus toll to 384.

Another 1,600 Covid-19 cases were recorded today, taking total confirmed infections in the country to 74,294.

Of these, 541 or 33.8% were recorded in Negeri Sembilan, followed by Selangor (426, 26.6%) and Sabah (248, 15.5%).

The spike in cases in Negeri Sembilan was due to an increase of confirmed infections – 500 – in the Bakti cluster. These are confined to prison areas.

Kuala Lumpur recorded 148 cases followed by Johor (98), Penang (55), Perak (54), Kedah (18), Labuan (five), Kelantan (three), Sarawak (two) and Pahang and Melaka (one each).

No new cases were recorded in Terengganu, Putrajaya or Perlis.

Active cases stand at 11,604 with 129 in the ICU and 57 in need of respiratory assistance.

Another 1,033 patients were discharged, bringing total recoveries to 62,306.

However, two more deaths were reported, pushing the virus toll to 384.
