Former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad has been admitted to the National Heart Institute (IJN) for the treatment of an infection.

In a post on Mahathir's official Facebook page yesterday, two photos were shared of him going through some files at the ward.

"Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad writing and going through some files at his hospital ward at Institut Jantung Negara on Thursday.

"Dr Mahathir was admitted on Tuesday and treated for an infection," it said.

The 98-year-old former Langkawi MP was admitted to IJN in January 2022 for an elective medical procedure.

He was again admitted to IJN after testing positive for Covid-19 in August last year.
