Selangor Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari indicated that the controversial Petaling Jaya Dispersal Link (PJD Link) may be revived despite announcing its cancellation yesterday, just two weeks ahead of critical state polls.

Amirudin yesterday said the project, which was a resurrection of the Kinrara-Damansara Expressway (Kidex) project that was cancelled in 2015 by then-menteri besar Mohamed Azmin Ali, could still be revived once it meets requirements.

He said there was a need for an effective traffic dispersal system for Petaling Jaya.

"So we'll see again.

"If they can satisfy the people, we can continue. But at the moment, it is not possible, because there are conditions that are not met," he told reporters last night.

The PJD Link is being planned as a four-lane dual expressway that will commence after the NKVE toll plaza on the Sprint Highway, ending at the Bukit Jalil Highway Interchange.

It will link Petaling Jaya North, Bandar Utama, Taman Tun Dr Ismail, the Petaling Jaya city centre, Taman Dato Harun, Taman Medan Baru, Taman Sri Manja, Bandar Kinrara, and Bukit Jalil Technology Park.

The state constituencies that will be affected include Bukit Gasing, Bandar Utama, and Kinrara, all of which are strongholds of the Pakatan Harapan coalition, which is hoping to retain power in the state, this time together with Barisan Nasional.

Affected residents have protested against the plan for more than two years, but state representatives have largely ignored their pleas for proper discussion with stakeholders.
