Attention today is on the Gombak parliamentary constituency where big guns from both sides of the political divide will be fighting it out for the seats of Hulu Klang, Gombak Setia and Sungai Tua at the Selangor state election.

Top leaders from the parties involved were at the nomination centre at SMK Sungai Pusu today in a show of support for their candidates.

The candidates from Perikatan Nasional (PN) arrived early this morning, met by a flood of supporters in blue.

They were accompanied by PN chairman Muhyiddin Yassin.

The candidates for Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Barisan Nasional (BN) meanwhile arrived at about 9.15am, accompanied by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.

Selangor Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari will go up against Muhammad Hanif from PN, while his predecessor Mohamed Azmin Ali, also of PN, will contest Hulu Selangor against PH's Juwairiya Zulkifli.

Gombak Setia incumbent Hilman Idham meanwhile will challenge Selangor Umno chairman Megat Zulkarnain Omardin.
