Amanah to contest 31 seats, negotiating for 2 more

The two seats still under negotiation are Tepuh and Bandar in Terengganu.

Amanah says that the party is contesting 31 seats in the six states facing elections, with two more still under negotiation.

Its president Mohamad Sabu said the two seats still under negotiation are Tepuh and Bandar in Terengganu.

"Amanah will contest two seats in Penang, seven in Kelantan, two in Negeri Sembilan, nine in Kedah, nine in Selangor and two in Terengganu.

"At the state elections, Amanah will retain nine incumbents and field 15 new faces. There will be seven women candidates," he said at a press conference to announce the party's candidates for the state polls.

Those retained by the party include its incumbent Permatang Pasir assemblyman Muhammad Faiz Fadzil, who is chairman of the Malaysian Fisheries Board.

State elections will be held in Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, Penang, Kedah, Terengganu and Kelantan on Aug 12. Nomination day will be held on July 29.

According to Mohamad, Kedah Pakatan Harapan chairman Mahfuz Omar will be fielded in Alor Mengkudu while Kelantan Angkatan Wanita Amanah Negara chief Hafidzah Mustakim will be the party's candidate for the Kota Lama seat in Kelantan.
