Entry of foreign workers on the list at Dewan Rakyat sitting

The government's efforts to tackle the shortage of foreign workers, and the question of overcrowding at hospital emergency departments will be raised today.

The issue of encroachment by foreign fishermen and efforts to speed up the entry of foreign workers to solve the shortage of workers will be among the topics of focus at the Dewan Rakyat sitting today.

Based on the order paper, the issue of foreign fishermen encroachments will be raised by Ahmad Marzuk Shaary (PN-Pengkalan Chepa) in a question to the home minister.

Marzuk will ask about the government's efforts to overcome issues affecting the income of local fishermen and the encroachment on the country’s sovereignty.

Also listed is Lim Guan Eng's (PH-Bagan) question to the human resources minister regarding the government's efforts to accelerate the entry of foreign workers, the expected time frame for the government to tackle the shortage of foreign workers, and the relaxations provided to employers.

Che Mohamad Zulkifly Jusoh (PN-Besut) will ask whether the government intends to give one-off cash assistance to rubber tappers who are affected by the year-round rain, and the factors that cause low rubber prices through a question to the rural and regional development minister.

Dr Kelvin Yii Lee Wuen (PH-Kuching) will raise the issue of overcrowding in the emergency departments of hospitals across the country and the government’s plans to resolve it through a question to the health ministry.

The Parliament sitting today will also witness the House continue its debate on the motion of thanks to the royal address.

The Dewan Rakyat will convene until March 30.
