Heavy rain, thunderstorm warning for west coast

The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a warning for heavy rain and more frequent thunderstorms from the afternoon to the evening in states on the west coast of the Peninsula from this Tuesday until Nov 11.

MetMalaysia, in a statement, said the states involved are Perak, Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka and Johor.

"Based on the analysis of the MetMalaysia weather research and forecasting model, the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts and the global forecast system, wind concentration is expected to occur on the east coast of the peninsula and west of Sarawak.

"This situation has the potential to produce continuous rain that can bring heavy rain and strong winds to the east coast of the peninsula from Nov 8 to 11," it said.

MetMalaysia had earlier issued a continuous rain alert for Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang and Johor during the period.
