The Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court has ordered Kinabatangan MP Bung Moktar Radin and his wife Zizie Izette Abdul Samad to enter their defence in the RM2.8 million corruption case against them.

Judge Rozina Ayob made the ruling after finding that the prosecution had established a prima facie case against Bung Moktar, 64, and Zizie Izette, 44, at the end of its case.

The couple chose to testify under oath from the witness stand where the prosecution will question them during cross-examination.

Lawyer M Athimulan, representing Bung Moktar, told the court that eight witnesses including his client would testify while K Kumaraendran, Zizie Izette’s lawyer, told the court that only two witnesses, including the actress, would testify at the trial that is scheduled to run for 14 days from Sept 23.

On May 3, 2019, Bung Moktar was charged with three counts of accepting bribes totalling RM2.8 million as an inducement to obtain Felcra Bhd's approval to invest RM150 million in Public Mutual unit trust products while Zizie Izette was charged with abetting him.

Bung Moktar was the non-executive chairman of Felcra when the offences were allegedly committed seven years ago.
