Sarawak Chief Minister Abang Johari Openg today said that he has been granted an audience with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong next week.

The Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) president said he was contacted by Istana Negara today about an audience with the king via video conferencing at 11am on Monday.

“This statement refers to the various reports in the media that the Yang di-Pertuan Agong is inviting and granting audiences to leaders of political parties,” a statement by the chief minister’s office said.

It also said that audiences had been granted to the presidents of GPS component parties, through video conferencing as well.

Political leaders who have so far confirmed audiences with the king include former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad and PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang.

Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin and PKR president Anwar Ibrahim met with Sultan Abdullah Sultan Abdul Shah at Istana Negara this morning.
