Online shopping platform Shopee today said that a viral tweet showing the sale of Pfizer-BioNTech’s Covid-19 vaccine on its site is fake.

In a statement, it said it had found no such listings on the platform.

“We can confirm that we have not found any similar listings on Shopee.

“The author of the tweet has since confirmed that the image was doctored and indeed fake,” it said.

Adding that Covid-19 immunisation is a national health matter that should not be trivialised, it said the health ministry, science, technology and innovation ministry as well as the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission are aware of the fake news.

“We wish to remind everyone that the spread of false information on the vaccine is being monitored by the police and MCMC,” it added.
