The police have confirmed receiving a report from former solicitor general III Mohamad Hanafiah Zakaria regarding defamatory allegations against him by former attorney-general Tommy Thomas yesterday.

Selangor Criminal Investigation Department chief Fadzil Ahmat said the report was made in Cyberjaya regarding the contents of Tommy’s book titled “My Story: Justice in the Wilderness” which was recently published.

“Yes, we will call him (Tommy Thomas) as soon as possible to record his statement. The case is being investigated under Section 500 of the Penal Code for defamation,” he told Bernama.

Hanafiah said in the report that an excerpt on page 248 was untrue and gave the connotation that he was incapable of leading and supervising the prosecution team in the SRC International Sdn Bhd trial involving former prime minister Najib Razak.

He said in the case against Najib in 2018, he was the trial and appeals division head at the Attorney-General’s Chambers.
