Individual income tax rates will be cut while incentives will be continued for a number of areas.

The spending plans are expected to be approved by the cabinet later in the day and include cash and coupon handouts to families with children under 18 who meet an income cap, as well as pay rises for nurses and careworkers.

Other promotions include free beer, free doughnuts, free baseball tickets and savings bonds for people who get vaccinated.

Some businesses are offering transportation and bonuses of up to US$500 to encourage workers to get the jab.

Government says the increase in amount from the last budget took into account the heightened need for assistance.
