A video of a speech filled with Chinese expletives during a DAP event in Selangor attended by top party leaders including secretary-general Anthony Loke has been going viral on social media platforms, with thousands of comments condemning the racist and deragotory language aimed at PAS and Malay opponents of the current government.
The two-minute video, which has gathered half a million views on TikTok alone since it was uploaded late yesterday evening, was taken on June 10 this year during a DAP fundraising dinner in Balakong, a state seat in the Bangi federal constituency in Selangor.
In the video, an unnamed speaker wearing a red Pakatan Harapan vest warns the crowd of a "turban party", a reference to PAS, many of whose top leaders wear the Muslim headgear.
"Now another one appears, what do you call it, the turban party. Is there a green wave? It's already difficult, and now this goddamned turban party appears, right?
"The one that everyone's afraid of, mention it and you're reminded of your genitals being cut off," the man said.
After a few more lines lambasting the "turban party", he said: "If they win big, we'll indeed be damned in hell, hell upon hell!"
He said many quarters including those from Umno had been demanding an apology from DAP.
"They think that we rocket (DAP) can easily be bullied, don't they? We rocket are not afraid of them. We're never afraid. Do you all understand?
"That's right, they wanted an apology. Umno is demanding it from us. And funnily, MCA, too, is demanding it," he said, believed to be a reference to MCA vice-president Ti Lian Ker who in June urged DAP to apologise to the party for its past accusations of being traitors to the Chinese race.
"What's this fu***r called? They're asking to be f***ed."
Continuing his tirade with more expletives, the man said DAP was not wrong in opposing its enemies in the past.
"They made Malaysia backward like this. All because of them," he said, referring to Umno.
He nevertheless warned against the defeat of Umno at the coming state polls, saying such a scenario would see people joining the "turban party" in droves.
"Once they do that, our brother Anwar will fall. Do you all understand?
"If we lose the six states, brother Anwar's government will be weak. So if you want brother Anwar's government to be strong, everyone has to vote and support Pakatan Harapan," he added.
The event was held at a Chinese restaurant in Cheras as part of a series of fundraisers for the state polls before the dissolution of the Selangor state assembly.
Apart from Loke, who is also the transport minister, other senior DAP leaders who spoke at the event included Gobind Singh Deo, Bukit Mertajam MP and Deputy Finance Minister Steven Sim, and Bangi MP Syahredzan Johan.
The speech was reminicent of remarks by well-known DAP supporter Hew Kuan Yew, who during the general election campaign last year urged Chinese voters to exploit the disunity of the Malays by giving them a "knockout punch" at the polls.
"Now let the Malays who want Malay supremacy, the head-wrapped Malays who want Islamic supremacy, meaning those PAS b*****ds," Hew, popularly known as Superman Hew, was heard saying in a video clip that went viral.
Police arrested and released Hew some days later but did not announce the outcome of their investigation.
The latest clip was greeted by thousands of angry comments, many of which urged the authorities to take action against DAP for touching on race and religion.
"To the authorities, please take action. Don't close one eye when 3R issues are raised," said one comment referring to warnings by government leaders against touching on race, religion and royalty during the campaign period.
Others, meanwhile, mocked a previous speech by Umno deputy president Mohamad Hasan praising DAP for its honesty compared to past allies such as PAS and Bersatu.
"Tok Mat was right to say that they're honest and sincere," TikTok user Amza said.
